Does Organizing Your Life Make A Difference?

Does Organizing Your Life Make A Difference?

Does organizing your life make a difference especially in this modern chaotic world? Everything feels out of balance, people wonder if being organized has any benefits. Therefore, this is a subject that is very controversial to some people.

What Happens When Your Life is Out of Balance?

When you have a lot of unorganized order in your life it is hard to see things in a clear and beneficial manner and you can become overwhelmed.

As a result, you may eventually encounter stress and it can lead to health issues. The medical community suggests that it can lead to depression, anxiety disorders in which your body receives signals that cause your adrenal gland to release adrenaline, hormones, and raise cortisol levels.

What are the Habits and Routines that can Help Turn Chaos into Organizational Happiness?

If you would like to share your thoughts on this post, you can do so in the comments section at the bottom of this blog.

If your life is hectic and needs some organization, here are some suggestions to get your life back to being manageable. Set aside a quiet time that you will be able think clearly without distractions, about what habits or tasks you want to change in your life’s outline routine.

1) Write your thoughts down

Make sure you have some paper, your journal, or goal planner at hand to write your thoughts down. I have designed a printable goal planner for your use, it is in the Learning Resource section. When writing down your thoughts, be aware that there will be times when you may want to change your ideas of what tasks are important to you, it is perfectly okay.

To help your decision-making process, divide the paper into two sections so you can see what you wish to change visually. On one side of the paper write a positive reason for each new habit or task, on the other side write a reason for each new habit or task that will not fit into your current schedule.

Is Your Expectations Within Arms Reach?

Make sure you set your expectations within arm’s reach, as the saying goes. For instance, you want to exercise 7 days a week, although your life schedule only has room for 3-5 days a week. It could be obtainable if you compromised and decided on 4 days a week. Everyday we all must accept the challenges or compromises that we are faced with to complete our daily lives.

Now that you have made your choices, take a moment to walk away or set the paper aside. If there are any changes that need to be made, you will be able to better identify them by putting the paper aside for a short period and then going over your choices again.

It is important to note that putting away your writing will also allow you to let go of any overwhelming feelings or stressed feelings. When you try to make changes, our mind must have time to process the added information. In theory, some say it can take 21 days (about 3 weeks) or longer for your mind to create a habit.

2) Make a schedule for your new life routine

It is particularly important to plan by making a schedule that you will follow each day. It helps to add color effects to your schedule to define the life activities such as what is personal, work, business, and social.

At times without a doubt there will be life hiccups that come up. We all have those days when unexpected things happen, so be kind to yourself. It is part of the process, setbacks do happen, there is usually a solution to everything that arises.

This is one of my all-time favorite quotes.

It really says it all…

“Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance, you must keep moving.”

3) Define how you will achieve your new routine and make it into a habit

By creating your schedule and committing yourself to that routine each scheduled time then you will be able to achieve your goal of making it an activity of habit. Remember to keep the changes small and simple at first then you can add new tasks to the routine schedule when needed.

4) Make sure to set in place compassionate reward system

This step is especially important because it is human nature to want to receive some kind of recognition for our accomplishments. For recognition of your accomplishments, think of a positive rewards, or what acts you can do for yourself to make it more rewarding. Then put a special mark next to that task, so you will think of the positive reward and this will be an incentive to continue to achieve and accomplish it. Whenever you accomplish a task, mark it with another special mark or highlight it so that you will constantly think of your achievement, and it will be more motivating for you to keep on going.

In closing, remind yourself that changing habits and routines is not always an easy process. As we know, change can be confusing, frustrating but also can be inspiring and exciting. As you get more organized the process will get easier to achieve. You will see the changes in life fulfilling and your confidence level on the rise. You will be back in charge of your own manageable life.

“Always believe in yourself and always stretch yourself beyond your limits. Your life is worth a lot more than you think because you are capable of accomplishing more than you know. You have more potential than you think, but you will never know your full potential unless you keep challenging yourself and pushing beyond your own self imposed limits.”
